Support for High-DPI monitors

If you set your DPI setting to more than 100% the previous versions of the program displayed blurry dialogs:

Now all texts in the dialogs are scaled and looks clear:

Usability improvements

  • Press “Tab” key in the menu to show hidden device list
  • If the program icon is in the ‘additional icons’ area of the systray the
menu is displayed above this area (not in front of it)

  • Warning dialog is displayed on attempt to return USB3.0 device back, because this action leads the USB 3.0 hub to a temporarily disabled state
  • Multi-monitor support improvement: program dialogs are now displayed on the same monitor with the device menu
  • Hotkey to stop all devices is displayed in the tray context menu
  • The option “Notify about connected devices on system exit” is now off by default
  • The option “Save device properties on all storage devices” is now off by default

Command line improvements

  • Forced return command is added
  • Extended logging added

Bug fix

  • Sometimes the program didn’t display the menu or display it in an incorrect place
  • An error could be displayed after successful device stopping
  • An error could be displayed when the program is running in background
  • Program didn’t delete sent error reports
  • An error could be displayed while searching for locking processes
  • An error could be displayed on device forced stopping
  • In some cases an error displayed when calling the device menu
  • Some PNG images can crash the program when loaded as device icons
  • Installer option “Don’t create icon in the Start menu” were ignored
  • On white-and-black Windows color scheme some dialogs were displayed incorrectly
  • ‘A’ and ‘B’ drive letters were never assigned automatically to devices, it causes the external storage may not have a drive letter at all
  • An error could be displayed when selecting device context menu item
  • An error could be displayed on ejecting media (card reader’s card or CD-ROM’s media)
  • An error displayed when clicking to some parts of the device menu
  • An error might be displayed after ejecting of a card reader’s card
  • The program assistant service can silently crash in some cases
  • Forced return didn’t work in some cases (handles to neighbor devices weren’t actually closed)
  • Could not see locking processes for devices with folder-only mount point(s)
  • An error was displayed when the program cannot write portable settings file on write protected\access restricted media
  • Settings of encrypted volumes (TrueCrypt) weren’t portable
  • In some cases encrypted volume (TrueCrypt) wasn’t mounted automatically
  • Encrypted volume (TrueCrypt) settings might be reset on restart of the program
  • Fixed drive letter settings can be reset for devices with portable settings enabled
  • Portable apps menu didn’t display in the skin’s color scheme
  • Program weren’t able to run an encryption software (TrueCrypt) from the device

Extended encrypted volumes support

The previously named “TrueCrypt integration” feature got a major improvement. We have fixed lots of bugs in the feature (see above), made more convenient and straightforward user interface for its settings and added CipherShed and VeraCrypt support. Also in case you have a whole partition encrypted an option to hide this partition from the menu was added to help avoiding the menu cluttering.

Your previous TrueCrypt settings won’t be transferred automatically, you have to set them up again in the new version. Due to some bugs in the previous version and major changes of this feature in the new version an automatic migration of the settings would require too much coding from us therefore we decided to do not make it. We apologize for the inconveniences.

How to upgrade? Just download using the blue “Download” button and run the installer, it will do the upgrade automagically. If your upgrade subscription is over feel free to extend it.

      Hello,
Can you send us a bit more details from the support form. What OS are you using, what certain window do you mean (send us the screenshot of possible)? What’s your monitor configuration (resolution of monitors, their DPI settings)?

How do you know if your subscription is expired ? (will the updater warn people ?)

MS should be shot for offering that option (change the scale of text, but not the rest of the controls). I always advise users to set it back to 100% (the way God intended), and come up with a ‘cleaner’ solution for difficulty reading text. EG –
    1) Get a bigger monitor
    or
    2) Have a screen magnifier which doubles the size of everything on the screen.

      Hi Rob,

      >How do you know if your subscription is expired ? (will the updater warn people ?)
Yes, the program will display the corresponding message, you can see it in the Help -> About the program dialog (accessible via right clicking to the tray icon). Also the upgrade period is specified in your license key email.

      >MS should be shot for offering that option (change the scale of text, but not the rest of the controls)
Actually almost all Windows own dialogs are scaled correctly – both text and controls. In our case the current version doesn’t scale some images. We will fix this in the following versions as well.

The major improvements in the new release are bug fixings.

For me is not understandable why an user has to pay for bug fixings. A bug is a defect in the application; fixing it is not an enhancement but the owed commitment to supply a non defective product, regardless of what the product actually is.

Except the bug-fix this version contains high-DPI support, usability improvements, command line improvements, improved disk encryption support. Too much to call this version just a bug-fix release, don’t it?
